About us
History
The Brownwood Education Foundation was originally founded over thirty years ago under the name of the Foundation for Excellence and functioned as a small group of alumni aimed at supporting Brownwood ISD. After a number of years, the Foundation for Excellence went dormant. In 2014, the group re-organized under a new Board of Directors. In 2016, we changed our name to the Brownwood Education Foundation, clarified our vision, and began working in earnest to raise monies for the support of BISD teachers and students. Today, we are a vibrant and growing foundation with a very active Board of Directors and Advisory Committee, striving to fund innovative teaching within our classrooms and supporting the faculty and staff of the district.
Mission Statement
According to our bylaws, the Brownwood Education Foundation is a community of alumni and friends providing funding for Brownwood Independent School District activities and experiences which inspire a spirit of excellence among our students, teachers, and peers. The Foundation may also collect, administer, and distribute gifts for Brownwood independent School District’s education programs and projects as designated by the donor or grantor.

- To provide Excellence in Teaching awards to BISD staff during yearly ceremonies, in conjunction with the BISD Administration, and to fund teacher/staff appreciation efforts throughout the year.
